I just got a processor and a motherboard in the mail today from a kid that I had bought it from anyway the core on the processor was cracked and we need to claim it from the post office. How long do you think the claim will take? and will they keep the motherboard as well as the processor because we are only claiming the processor.

Thanks

Nutcase99:

I had a claim with the post office over a SGI that I shipped overseas. It took 12 weeks for them to pay the insurance money, not to mention at least 3 trips to the post office to fill out forms with the postmaster. Of course, that is for an overseas/international claim. I would think 6-8 weeks for a claim involving US destinations...

OK here is my more important question, When I claim that the cpu was damaged during shipping will they keep everything that was shipped to me? OR just the procesor? I am just going to claim that the processor was damaged because the motherboard is fine.

my father's claim took 4-6 mos and then it was denied because there was NO physical damage to the shipping box... moral, if you want your money MAKE SURE THE BOX IS DAMAGED!!!

Oh and by the way the unit ( a "professional" camcorder ) arrived damaged w/ no visible signs to the box. of course if its dropped hard enough it can still be damaged but show no outward (I.E. the box) damage as in the case of hard drives

Oh the box was damaged on one corner, but do they keep everything in the package? or just the part that I am claiming damaged?

if they pay you a claim then they keep the eqiupment, and you can't buy it back either

just the part you have a claim on
