For instance, scholarships can expire after reaching a certain amount of credit hours
loans such as the Stafford is gone after the fifth year

so how long do federal such as Pell and school based grants last?

anybody know?

I believe you have to complete your degree in 150% of the normal time it takes to get the degree, in your program. So, in a four year program, you would no longer be able to get financial aid after your 6th year.

Grants can vary a lot; some might have total dollar amount limits, etc. I would check with your financial aid office.

until you finish a BA or BS.

thanks.. if that's correct
it's comforting to know

i dont' think its correct. 20 quarters at UCLA is equivalent to 5 years. If it does take you more than 5 years to get a BS, then no you won't get FA on teh 6th year +. but I really really doubt anyone will ever take more than 5 years for a BS.

Do the math 20 Quarters != 5 years. At UCDavis it is 18 quarters which is 6 years. UCLA is also 18 Quarters, however Cal Grant is limited to 12 Quarters.

It is 6 years. After 6 years they cut you off.

are you only referring to the Cal grant?
are you sure the Pell grant max is 6 yrs too?

I would call my financial aid office but I'm not in the states right now and I don't want to be in queue for 30 minutes on a long distance call

edit: I emailed them couple days ago and the only reply I got was "call this number"

Cal Grant is 4 years max. Pell Grant is 6.
