how long do domain squatters usually sit on a domain?

the domain name that would fit my parent's cleaners is taken by a company called seeq.com and has a link to buy the domain for "at least $688 and may be over $10,000." via buydomains.com

just out of curiosity, how long do these guys sit on an unsold domain until they let it go?

It depends on the number of hits the site gets and inquiries.

Whatever you do, DO NOT contact them regarding the domain. It costs as little as $6.50/yr for them to keep the domain. If they know people are interested they will keep it for 3+ years.

Wasn't there a law passed making them give up the domain if a valid business with matching name comes forward?

any longer than that and msot ppl get figidy or need to use the rest room.
