i bought a cordless mouse a few years ago and battery life was horrible so i gave up on cordless stuff since i leave my computers on all the time. i just got another and it has been on for two weeks and still going strong even with cheap batteries. how long should i expect it to go without having to change batteries and do keyboards get similar battery life?

I use Sanyo Eneloops in my mice and keyboards. In the Logitech M305 mouse, a battery last 3-4 months before needing recharging. In my MS Wireless Comfort Keyboard, they last about 6 months before needing recharging.

wow that is a long time. so its fair to say that cordless stuff can easily replace the corded stuff with no real inconvenience?

I also use the Sanyo Eneloops batteries. I have three systems with wireless mice - they use two AAA's each. I generally recharge them once a month. I have never had a HID power failure. :)

Part of long life for such devices is to turn them off when not being used. Can't speak to keyboards - would never use a wireless KB. I like mine illuminated.
