How long did it take you to find your current job?

From the date you applied, got interviews with the company, got an offer and finally your first day on the job/training..and what method did you go about finding it?

I'm curious as to my potential waiting times if I don't find something I like through campus recruiting efforts and end up at home looking through the ads..

heh, my boss here was a part time supervisor at my old job and he got me hired here. didn't take long. but i had been looking to get out of my previous job for about 2 years.
i didn't even really have to interview for it. just met the owner of the place and a few other people and that was it. it was pretty much if you want it, its yours

got my job by knowing one of the "directors" of the company...no application...interview was almost like being a "consultant" (i got paid to come down and make suggestions 😀)...and got offer for job that afternoon. It was all about who you know 😉

From graduating and lookig 6 months.

With this company (data applied, interviewing, and getting an offer), 1.5 weeks.

Used all of my old contacts to get interviews. After accepting though, I got offered a better job, but I didn't take it because it required a big, big move to another state, and a relative wait period.

Normally stuff happens within 2 weeks or so from the first interview to be made an offer and then maybe another week or 2 to start working.

A little more than a month. They wanted me sooner but getting the permission to add me to their budget slowed them down.

my first job I got 4 months before I graduated. This job they came looking for me, and interviewed twice over lunch before getting the offer and accepting.

"Applied" while still in school at a job fair... graduated a few months later and started another job I had lined up from the summer before... then I finally got an email from these guys 3 months into my new job... asking for an interview. I did the interview about a week later (with 3 people that day)... got hired on the spot... went to corporate training a couple weeks later and started the following week. Best feeling in the world... still with them - 5+ years now.

The other part was I wanted to give at least 3 weeks notice to my other employer... they were very good to me... I had only been there 3 months and they paid out my year's unused vacation time and everything.

Hmm. . I've been with this company since September of 1996.
I've been in this department doing this job since April of this year.
I got hired the day I applied in 1996.

I'm not sure how to answer this question ....
I knew what company I wanted to work for, I started off at the bottom, I've worked my way into IT and up a couple of steps.

About 8 months from first call to first day. I knew I would get an offer on merit - it was with some guys I had worked with previously and the interview was basically a formality. But there were some glitches in the funding and standup of a new project that hung it up. Plus our companies HR dept. is incredibly inefficient.
