how long did it take to get over your first love?

I split up with my first (and to date only) true love over 8 years ago and it still hurts, I still miss her and dream about her, to date it is the only regret of my life, I split up with her because of her mother being too controlling and me being too young to realise what I'd got.

I've had many relationships since including a few long ones but I never have and probably never will get over Hayley

We had a quick relationship though, it lasted all of a month but it was just one of those things that dont come along everyday. I vowed to not give my feelings to another woman ever again... I made one girl cry because of it, then I met my wife. It's been almost a year since we got married, and 5 years since we started dating.. Life is amazing sometimes.
