How long did it take to format your iPod mini?

Mine has been going for about an hour now. The bar is still miving but this seems like a long time to format just 4GB.

Are you sure it isn't the future 10 gig mini? I heard A LOT of them got messed up during Christmas and A LOT of people got the future 10 gig ones instead of 4 gig ones and they take longer to format.

I'm sure. Just read on an iPod mini forums that some other people are having this same problem. One guy said his has been "formatting" for over 24hrs. Another said his wouldn't format until it was fully charged. Guess I'll just try to cancel it, charge it, and try again.

are you formatting it over a usb1 connection? that may slow it down. My g/f;s formatted in minutes.

hey, where did you hear/see this? I got an iPod Mini for xmas and haven't opened it yet. I wonder if there's a way to tell. If 10GB models are just around the corner, I'm not going to open mine yet.
