Maintaining your current lifestyle....

...how long could you continue if you quit working today?

20 years? 3 years? 6 months?

A week? :D

Monetarily.

Same living expenses and spending habits...etc.

(I'm still thinking about my situation...)

With unemployment? A long time.

Unemployment would MORE than cover my bills (more than double, in fact).

I'm up to 8 months with no outside financial support besides my occasional Ebay sales. So far it's been really nice but I have a job waiting for me when I move in 3 weeks. Wish I never had to go to work.

2 months tops. That's when the lights would go out and the phone would magically stop working. Atleast the telemarketers couldn't call anymore. :p

About the same here! Though I wouldn't have to buy my $275 train/MetroCard if I wasn't coming to work so a month and 3 days maybe.

I thought we were talking economically, not mentally. Mentally, I doubt I could go without working for more than a month. Sitting at home doing nothing productive would drive me nuts. Hell, week after next I'm taking my first vacation in almost a year and it's only going to be a week off.

Well I'm currently a college student, and I'm lucky enough that my parents cover my room and board (scholarship covers tuition) so all my job money goes to spending money. I could probably not work another day till I graduate (3 years) and have enough spending money to last..

Like Viper said, with unemployement and what I've got in a nestegg, I could go years. If I sold my car and bought a cheap clunker to get me around then even longer.

Not counting unemployement, and maintaining current bills(including car loan), probably 4-5 months.
