How long can you send a VGA signal?

Looking to setup a monitor from one specfic computer, out to a monitor about 40-50 feet away. i am not sure if i can even use a RCA cable or SVideo cable for this, but we're toying with the option of instead of using a TV, just getting a cheap 17" monitor and running a VGA cable to this computer with a dual VGA video card. can you take it 50 feet? is there some sort of signal booster i can get? i know monitor extensions are available, but probably won't go 50 ft.

any input would be sweet... even if someone can tell me what the best way to get signal from a computer, to a monitor/TV like 50 feet away. (topps)

The data / video projector at the church where I am an A/V tech is connected to the computer via a HD15 cable that must be somewhere between 50 and 75 feet (it's been so long since it's been installed that I forgot the exact length). It is working well at 1024*768*32bpp*75Hz.

Just Casue you can send it that long dosent mean crap.

You can get 75 foot S-Video Cables but its not recomenede anything over 35 feet

You wont be using s-video or rca to connect a cheap 17" monitor, but I use a 25' VGA cable to connect my HD display. I can see no difference in quality from my normal standard length monitor cable even at 1080i resolution (1920 x 1080). I'm not sure about longer lengths, but 25' is fine.
