I just got back from visiting SoCal, and it's about a six and half hour trip one way. I've made it twice now, down and back, and I can do it w/o stopping. This time I stopped for gas but I didn't the last time down, just went straight through. How long can you drive without a break?

That's just wrong. Just plain wrong. 6 1/2 hours straight? I think I'd rather shoot myself than take any trip straight. I can't stand car trips. Period. When I was younger and my family used to go on vacation we would drive everywhere. The longest trip we ever took was 18 hours and it nearly drove me insane.

To answer your question, I think the longest I could drive straight would probably be a few hours. The only way I could go any longer would probably be if I had some good company or some great music to listen to, other than that I have to get out and take a break from the open road.

The longest I've driven at one time was from Columbia, SC to Atlanta. About 4 hours. No stops at all. I suppose I could have gone further, but too much more and I would have needed gas.

<< 23 hours with alot of coffee & vitamin C. >>

I hope you?re not counting bathroom breaks. My brother and me drove from Maine to Virginia without a break, which was about 9 hours. We did stop to go to the bathroom though. He drove and I navigated.

Yeah, I only did that once. I filled up right before I left and ran it down to the wire as I got there.

My longest straight thru trip was right at 24 hours with stops for only gas/food/facilities, but when I stop I take care of all three. When I go to Atlanta from here in Houston I usually drive straight thru which takes 10-12 hours.

I don't know the total break time, but had 2 meals on wheel & I think it was 4 or 5 gas/piss stops had to get to Alaska from Vancouver for a contract.

Every summer I drive from SW Louisiana to Northern Indiana. It takes me around 16.5 hours. The only stops (3 normally) I make are for gas and bathroom. I never need coffee/cokes/energy drinks/etc. All I need is a pile of CD-R's with my favorite music.

My mom thinks I am insane when I drive that long without a break.
