How long can a usb network adapter be?

I got a Hawking usb wireless network adapter and I was wondering how long I could go with a usb extention and have it still work.

The USB standard is 15? max.

Functionally might be less if your +5V is weak, or and the cable is low grade.

You can also buy 15' extensions that refresh the signal (but they are powered from the USB cable), they cost around $10 for USB 1 and $20 for USB 2. But these dont work all the time.

Or if you are really desperate and none of the above work, you can buy extensions that plug into wall and refresh signal. These are REALLY expensive, like $100. If you need stuff this long, you might want to start thinking about going to wired instead of wireless.

Its kinda like buying a USB hub. Some things wont work in a hub, they only worked plugged in direct. And it often depends on the motherboard and how well designed it is.
