I want to set up a dumb terminal with just the monitor/kb/mouse.
Are video signals subject to the same issues with cable length as sound?...well, I guess the answer would be yes. OK, how long can a cable from the video adapter in the computer to the monitor be? Any suggestions for a source for a long monitor cable?

I've seen 35foot cables, but I wouldn't recommend that long. I would say 20ft would be limit until you start seeing some major visual artifacts (bleeding, washed out color, lost focus, etc.).

Heh, just be careful on the quality of the cable you use. I have a 6 foot extension, and it looks like garbage, the text is completely blurry/ghosted at any resolution abouve 800x600.

You can get some really awesome long bnc cables, 20ft to probably 60ft tops, but a high quality 20ft one would already run over $100...I don't even want to know what a good 60ft one would cost...

if your monitor is under 17" then a 5$ extention for a couple of Metres extra will be fine ... if your 17" or more, that same 5$ cable will give u artifacts and screen ghosting, even on 2M (6 foot) and instead you need a lo-loss monitor extension, and that stuffs pricey (as the guy up there just said) -expect 30 $ min for 5-10M (v rough)
