How long before you graduated did you start interviewing for jobs?

My school had a bunch of those career fairs, and I just went to those and had a few bites at the first one in October. I had much better luck with the one in Feb of the following year (graduated that May).

Well, i graduate in March next year (finish uni in November this year), and i accepted an offer about a week ago 😉 Started applying in April, interviewing maybe three months ago. Got an offer for everything i interviewed for so far 😎

i got my offer 7 months before i graduated. most of my friends got them at 8 months before.

Supposedly, the average waiting time (nationally) for your first "real" job in your field is four months post graduation. This doesn't count taking piddly little garbage like $7/hr shifts.

3 months. i wanted a little down time.

before you graduated?
eh, i skimmed and assumed he meant "after"

Well, i don't graduate properly until March, but i finish uni in November, so i guess i could have had plenty of down time after uni & before graduation 😉

Other than the interview at the Co-op position I had, and maybe one or two at the career fairs, I waited until I graduated to start looking.

I wouldn't have had time during the semester. Somehow I ended up with full loads for both of my last two semesters.

I started looking about a year ago. I graduate in two years. I believe I have a spot at the place I am currently co-oping for when I finally graduate so I didn't really have to look very hard.

It seems like if you end up with multiple offers, it might be challenging to make sure they all come in around the same time frame to choose the best one.

It took a while for me... Pick up contract jobs in the meantime. Anything will do. Charity organizations are always willing to get tech people to do pro bono work. And if you have contacts, get some paid contracts too. It definitely helps the job finding process

I'm not graduating until June (hopefully), and I was told I should just wait until 2-3 months before I graduate to start interviewing. I think I'll only have 8 units that last quarter, so I would have a lot of time.
