how long before tongue rings close up?

had mine for a year and a couple months... goin home for xmas and my parents wouldnt be too impressed... i wear a transparent ring when i go home but i feel bad that i have to keep worrying about accidentaly playing with it and having my parents see it...

if i were to remove it, how long before it closes up again?

could i like remove it in the morning and put it back in at night every day? could i go days at a time?

Longest I've had mine out is about 3 hours w/o any problems (haven't tried leaving it out longer) - I've had it for about 6 years

i heard that no matter how long youve had it in for, it will close in a matter of hours...

Well, my fiance took hers out for an interview had it out for a little less than a day and I don't think she had any problems putting it back in.

i drink and have cigarettes with both my parents. in the past they have seen me both drunk and stoned. thats not the point.
the point is i really respect them and although for the most part they dont care about piercings, this is one that ive been specifically asked not to get, and i went along and did it anyway. i dont regret it but i just dont want to upset them.
