I've had tilapia in the freezer for 2 months and still eaten it and it was fine. As long as you never thawd it and put it back I think it should be ok.

It will last pretty much forever in the freezer.
If it's not completely airtight though, it will absorb nasty odors and eventually taste bad.
But even if it was in there for years, it wouldn't hurt you.

A piece of flounder that I once put in the freezer went bad before its second day there. It started terrorizing the ice cubes and making vicious fun of the frozen veggies. It even tried to sell a defenseless rising crust pizza to a shadowy Asian mail order erotic foodstuffs outfit. The horror.

Still, you just can't tar all frozen fish with the same broad brush. Many fillets go on to lead long producticve lives. Four years ago (in 2000), one even overcame a 500,000 vote defict in the popular vote to become President.
