How long away from Verizon to count as new customer?

And subsequent question - if I sign up with PagePlus does that count as being "away" from Verizon? Could switch to them for a while then switch back later.

Have an HTC Incredible 1 and nothing really appeals @ Verizon today, really want to wait for better phone availability.

Speaking of which, anything worthwhile on the horizon for Verizon?

Couldn't resist.

And honestly, surprised they don't already have a phone out under that name...

I mean, nothing is MAKING you get a new phone is there? Why would you leave and wait for a better phone and then come back? Don't new customers and customers renewing a two-year agreement get the same phone pricing in MOST cases?

Making me leave, no, but I'm out of contract and still piggy-backed on an ex-GF's plan. And PagePlus offers unlimited voice/text and 1GB data for $55 where I'm currently paying $90/month for a shared pool of minutes/unlimited text/"unlimited" data (which I typically use .5 GB or less).

T-Mobile isn't an option - absolute dead spot in my neighborhood for ATT/TMO.

And actually, new customers seem to get significantly better phone pricing than renewals. Really hate how they treat existing customers.

Not unless you haggle your way through by calling customer retentions which is never ever guaranteed.
Comparing phone prices on Amazon.com for both new and current customers should give you all the proof you need.
