How long are you supposed to wait in a doctor's lobby?

Why is it that you have to wait in the lobby for 1 hr+????

I have PPO and every general doctor I've been too, I'm stuck wasting time in the lobby for more than an hr, reading stupid magazines. BS!!!!

If they say your appointment is at 2PM, then it should be at 2PM. Not Q!@#$(*@# 3PM!!!

All doctors should goto hell and suffer.

I can't believe you have to wait in an American doctor's office. I thought that sort of thing only happened in Canada!

So find a good Doctor.

If my appointment is at 2:00, then I am seen at 2:00. No waiting, ever.

After about 15 minutes, tell the receptionist that your time is valuable, you have other engagements, make another appointment, then leave. My buddy does it. Says it works like a charm. Doctors are as bad as hairslyists... :(

here in Australia, we have socialized medicine. I wait in the lobby for 5 minutes, see the doctor, and then walk out the door without paying a cent. :)

I never have to wait at my doctors but at the walk in clinic I generally expect at least 2 hours

I'm going to generalize just like you. I think you should suffer and go to hell.

Generally I'll give them 15-20 min past my appointment time before I start to wonder whats going on.

I understand that patients can be a PITA sometimes and that can cause the Dr. to fall behind schedule.

I also make the appointment with the expectation that I will not be seen right away...so I always leave extra time in my schedule for the delay.

Now what gets me more than waiting in the Dr's office is waiting in the ER.

It's an Emergency Room... not a paitently wait for the kind Dr room. lol

How unAmerican! ;) We Americans like our insurance premiums, copays, and deductibles high and to be denied coverage should our illness not profit a CEO.

In my doctor's office, there's a sign saying that if you've been waiting for more than 20 minutes after your appointment was scheduled for, to go back up to the front desk and they'll call the doctor and see what the holdup is. I've only had to do that once. However, I usually end up waiting in the little room for 20-30 minutes, which kinda sucks. I'm still usually out within an hour or so total, though.
