How long after a console launch does a second revision usually come out?

I know a lot of times a console will have 2 or 3 hardware revisions as they find defects in the original hardware.

I was thinking of buying a Wii on launch day, but do you think it might be better to just wait a few months to let everything get ironed out first?
 
Has nintendo ever revised a current console? I'm pretty sure they released updated versions of the NES and SNES but that was after their respective cycles. Of course I could have just imagined that. 😕
 
tend to be secret. the wiki articles on em list revisions. there are many, look at the ps2 one. though much for cost cutting instead of bug fixing i bet
