How large should my pagefile be?

Windows xp reccomends 768MB pagefile, but I have 24GB free space so I set it to 1536 (1536 + 512 = 2048 or 2GB). Do you think this is good? or should I make it larger or smaller? thx.

What Windows recommends is generally good.

Im in agreement. There is seldom a reason to override the system default for pagefile size. Your 2 gb setting is probably overkill.

I usually override the windows default, but i set it to basically what the recommended is. That way, the pagefile wont expand and contract by itself based on need (which, iirc, causes harddrive fragmentation). Honestly, though, I can't tell a performance difference either way.
