How large can I make my hosts file?

I grabbed the hosts file from here that blocks adult sites. My hosts file is now 1527 KB. I've only had this PC a couple of weeks (fell for one of the Dell deals) so I can't really tell if it slowed down or not. I'm running Windows XP; P IV 2.4; 256 RAM. I was thinking about pasting another hosts file to the bottom of mine, but figured I was pushing the limit. Is there a maximum size I should stay below?
 
There is no size limit I am aware of, but the system does parse the file from the top (until it finds a matching entry) upon each lookup. So, grow it until the lookup delay becomes noticible.
