SunTrust is a fairly large bank in the South, especially in Florida.

I am using AmSouth, another good size bank in the South.

but - chances are they sent that email out to 100,000+ people, and if 1% of them has used southtrust, that is still 1,000 people. And if 1% of them are stupid enough to fall for it, thats 10 people.

10 people's account info by taking 1 minute to send out an email. Sounds like a smart idea if you ask me.

Straight from SunTrust very own website:

The company operates an extensive distribution network primarily in Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and the District of Columbia, and also serves customers in selected markets nationally.

SPAM doesn't always hit the target. That is the beauty of it, in a spammers eyes - if you send out a billion e-mails, some will know what your advertizing and fewer will fall for it.

i.e. I get spam for tittie pills, viagra, DISCOUNT SOFTWARE(z) [I really get a kick out of this one. SELLING warez. how low can you go]; etc. None of which even intre

ah fvck it, ill quit rambling

I bank with Sun Trust and got a fake Sun trust spam, asking for my online login account info. The funny thing was, I clicked on the link for the hell of it, and it took me to an IP address url. Spam like that makes me grateful that my mom is computer illiterate. If she could use email, I could see her falling for a link like that.

Yes i know their are SUNTRUSTS everywhere.. (thats my bank).. however the OP was referring to a bank called SOUTHTRUST. I was just pointing that out to you in case you had misread the original post. A southtrust bank and a suntrust bank are not the same thing. I've only seen a southtrust bank in Atlanta on a business trip.
