How is your webpage's speed?

I'm about to order the standard package from e-rice webhosting:

250M Disk Space
5G/mo Data Transfer
3 MySQL Databases
25 Email/User/Subdomains
$19.99/yr

Just wondering if the transfer speed will be sufficient for our needs (helping a colleague set up a webpage to sell his software)

What's your transfer rate and would you mind sharing your URL so that I can check out the speed? (you can pm me if you prefer)

Thanks a lot!

I lease a Rackshack server with 700gig of transfer a month and 120gb of space on a pretty damn fast backbone 😀

E-Rice? 😛

Any relation to DigitalRice, the service that went under a few years back?

I have RippleHost, and transfers peak to me at around 150KB/s midday, and I'm in Canada.

Im slightly confused. Your asking about the transfer speed, but you cant tell that unless you visit a site thats hosted by the potential host. And it will vary greatly from connection to connection.

I think you might mean the transfer limit. Which is how much you are allowed to have downloaded from your account per month. Different from the speed of the site. 5gigs a month isnt very much. It might be alright for a small site, with little traffic.. (ie. 30-40 visitors aday - assuming they dont download much.) And since this is going to be a site for software, your going to have to consider the downloads of the program. Say its one megabyte in size. It could be downloaded of course, 5,000 times per month (thats assuming they dont download anything else [images, html files]). 5,000 D/L's isnt alot.

What are you using your Rackshack server for jfall?

gawd, man, use addaction.net, as pimped by the grand nagus in hiding.

6.95/mo
10 gigs transfer
500 mb disk space
5 sql databases
50 email accounts

free 6 months... i think it's still free6months....
