We’re currently investigating an issue related to the forum theme and styling that is impacting page layout and visual formatting. The problem has been identified, and we are actively working on a resolution. There is no impact to user data or functionality, this is strictly a front-end display issue. We’ll post an update once the fix has been deployed. Thanks for your patience while we get this sorted.
Just now came across your question while looking for something. I bought this tuner at a promotion about a month ago at Frys. When I get my rebate I'll know whether to smile or not. 🙂 Based on what I had read after searching around I decided not to use the CD that comes in the package for my drivers. I downloaded the most recent ones at the website. The installation was smooth on a XP Pro system. All the cable channels come in perfectly with no banding or noise. The resolution is OK but you will know that you are not watching a regular TV. The remote works fine which is not something I had expected based on many comments. I have recorded several programs and they came out well. I have also taken some snapshots and they worked.
One big problem though. And this is going to sound completely crazy. Haha. The full screen always works fine but the normal window is blank unless I do something which I will explain now. To see the picture in a normal sized screen I have to open Adobe Reader to its full size. Or WinMX. And it has to be to their full size. I'm not kidding. I have no idea why this is happening or why the picture will appear with these two programs running. Hauppuage is aware of this blank screen problem and devote a section of their website to ideas for correcting it. None of their suggestions work and it was only by chance that I happened to notice that wthl certain applications fully opened that I would suddenly have a picture. Is this weird or what? Hauppauge sort of admits that they don't know the answer to why some users get a blank screen by asking anyone with a solution to email them explaining what they did.
So, maybe you'll be in the majority and not have this problem. Or if you do you can just get a free copy of Adobe Reader and keep it open when you are watching TV. The Adobe program can be covered over with another window and my TV will still have a picture. I just can't minimize it or reduce the application window size. For $30 after rebate I'll put up with the hassle.
