How is this to cool a 28 thread, 14 core CPU ?

Push-pull might be worth a look with a cooler that thick. It will flow more and be quieter. Homemade side baffles might actually improve thermals as well, but it'd have to be tested.

Yeah -- I might agree with that. Effectiveness will be a function of the processor TDP or overclock TDP as well as die-size/lithography and the size of the processor cap, but there shouldn't be any issues with that Hyper 612.

Let me observe that the Hyper 612 seems to be CoolerMaster's answer to the ThermalRight Le Grand Macho, which was my own choice. The respective designs of the two coolers are very similar. I could even confuse the 612 with the LGM if I squint while looking at it.
