how is this receiver?

For $5 more I would get this one:

The VR-606 has S-Video switching and is pretty decent (I used to own one). I haven't heard the VR-615 but it used to be part of Kenwood's lowest model of HTIB (HTB-205). I'd be concerned to connect good speakers with it since the ones that came with the 205 look so crappy.

kewl..thanks for the recommendation

any others?

I have the 6070(pretty close to the 6060) and love it has the best remote I've ever used(only thing i'd want is some glow buttons or a backlight on the remote).

The guys at Home Theater Forum recommended me the Harman Kardon AVR-125 or Onkyo TX-SR501 when I was shopping for an inexpensive receiver. Both were ~$180 refurbished at eCost when I bought the H/K. I like some of the extra features on the H/K but the Kenwoods are still solid products and $100 less.

If anything I would not go with the first one just because they had to put speakers on it to make it look nice. Look for subtle advertising tricks like that when trying to figure out the better product.

I would go with Pioneer as they are generally the company that makes the most recievers. You have a good chance that the other brand you buy was actually made by Pioneer and rebranded.
