How is this raid controller a raid-5 card/

Your link didn't work for me, but I assume you meant this card: SATA-PE44

In the product description it says "Supports FIS-based switching with Port Multipliers"

This link talks about what that is.

Port Multipliers

So I assume that the card would see the extra drives from the port multiplier to create a raid 5 set.
