How is this possible?

So yesterday I reformated my main HDD. I installed windows, got all the updates, drivers. Got MS Office on there, Photoshop, HL2, Diablo 2, Acrobat reader. And I go to disk defragger (just curious) and nearly the entire disk is fragmented. How is that possible?

It's a fresh install, nothing has been removed or moved, only put on the disk.
Any ideas?

did you do a quick format or something?

There has to be a reason for it... although I can't really understand that...

well there was nothing "wrong" with it, just all the fragmented files. It runs fine. I didnt put it to the benchmark yet, but I assume it would be on par with what I previously got.

I simply did a format c: when i formated the drive. I didnt zero it or anything, but either way, it should have overwritten all the old data in order right?

Even the system files are in three different "groups" (according to the analysis).
