How is this mouse?

I"m looking at the Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 4.0 mouse. The one I have right now is the original Logitech USB mouse. I'm looking for something that is good for gaming without spending a lot of money. Would you recommend this? If not what are your other recommendations? Thanks!

I have a4tech, intellimouse 4, several logitech ball, logitech mx510, wireless explorer, and other generic wireless opticals.

Let's just say that mx510 tops them all, for use on my dedicated gaming pc. I don't see myself upgrading on this.

I love my logitech mx510. It's the shizzle. I like how there's no actual right click left click buttons it's just one smooth red holographic piece. Oh yeah it is deadly accurate too. Keeps the zombies off your back (Doom3)

i have the intellimouse 4. I like it fine for gaming and I like the tilt wheel. I know the 510 is better but for half the money I am totally satisfied with the 4.0. The smooth wheel does take some getting used to for gaming. Changing weapons etc. since there are no cliks in the wheel you have to be easy on the rotation but after a bit you get used to it just fine. The mouse is very accurate. Its a bit light i feel but like I say for the money you can't go wrong.

I have the Intellimouse Optical, which uses the same optical eye engine as the explorers(6000Hz scanrate), except it's smaller and ambidextrous. For $12 you can't beat this mouse. The only thing it needs are decent mousefeet since the plastic ones kinda suck compared to even the cheapest Logitechs.

for about the same price, if a little more, you can get the mx510. i have this mouse and it is just amazing for gaming, especially fps's, which I mostly play

the mx510 is still a little pricey, but i think you can find the mx500, also a great mouse, for less than half of what you'd pay for the 510.

What is the difference between the MX500 and the MX510?

The 510 uses a more accurate (if thats the word) sensor. Either accurate is the word or its better at tracking movement due to the improved sensor.

Exactly the same in all physical respects but it is more responsive to your actions.
