I found them extremely fun. IMO it really captures the universe of star wars. The jedi fights are awesome. Any star wars fan will enjoy this

Very fun- I never finished the SP game, but lately, I've been continuing. I use to love the MP, but I got tired for many of the server rules. AFor example, you jump into a "Free-for-All" game. What do you expect when you are in this type of a game? You expect to jump in and get as many kills as you can. Then you get some DA, yelling at you because you attacked him when his saber was down- wth? Many of the servers had "No attacking when sabers are down" rules- and, yes, these were Free-for-All matches. When a player is typing a message, a bubble appears above their head so you know they are typing a message- now I can understand not attacking in this situation. Then you get the guys complaining because you jump in a saber fight, and tear them apart. That's why the have a challenge mode. If you want to deul one other person, you can challenge then and know one could interfere. You'll be lucky to find a server running without a mod. You don't have the mod- you don't play on that server. I mainly play MP and this BS took all of the fun out of it for me.

I loved Jedi Academy.
Only did the single-player campagin though.

Decent story, tons of cool force powers and excellent battles. Not just a couple, but bunches of them in all different combos. 1 on 1 with masters, and 10 on 1 with varous levels of dark jedi.

Nice variety in the missions too, like the other Dark Forces games.
You could also set an option to slo-mo certain deaths. Very cool stuff.

Probably the last game to use the Quake 3 engine to its fullest.

I liked it a lot. If you are looking for a balanced multiplayer game then you might want to look for something else though. Unless they patched it, the dark force powers allow the player to take advantage of a lot of exploits which are not very fun. Other than that, you won't find a better multiplayer game with light saber action.

is there anyway to slow it down a bit? it seems like everything is in fast forward. almost like in emulators when theres no FPS limit. i tried enabling vsync but nothing.

The SP is very good, but I thought the previous game, Jedi Outcast, was better. I never got around to trying the MP component.

It might be a dual core thing. There are several solutions available for those issues.

I loved that game and jedi outcast. They were really awsome games, but it makes me a bit sad, as LucasArts has completely abandoned the PC platform it seems. I doubt we will ever get another game in the series, and if we do, it probably won't come to PC :(

I'm suprised no one else has mentioned it already but there is another Jedi/Dark Jedi game on its way out.
So far it looks like console-only.

I am a long standing member of one of the best JK2/JKA No force dueling clans on any of the competitive gaming ladders, the Jedi Knights Templar. I am also a hardcore Star Wars fan.

Jedi Knight 2 was pure heaven. The moves were limited after the 4th patch Raven really had a great system. Of course the competition was best with No Force because that was where you put all your saber skill into motion. The maps were great and the idea of a third with Raven kicking out better graphics and dual and staff sabers killed us with anticipation.

The single player game of JK2 was pretty good. When Jedi Academy landed I was really, really fustrated. The single player game is quite poor compared to JK1 and JK2 ( and all other Star Wars FPS that came before it on any platform ). The multiplayer is where JK2 shined though and I had big hopes with JKA. After two patches Raven completely gave up on JKA, with what I suspect is LA trying to push Battlefront ( utter garbage on PC ) to take over as the star wars Multiplayer game.

Multiplayer in JKA has so much potential it just fustrates the living hell out of me that you can have skill in this game and still loose to 8 year olds who spam 1 or 2 moves that are piss easy to do. Also, most of the online servers are @BWN servers that have force jump enabled. Force jump on most of the default maps == total exploitation of duels. Instead of having tactical fights of skill... most likely you will get nothing but Red Stance whorage. The game is also macro'able to hell so you will see a lot of people just Nostromo or G15 their way to victory. The competitive duels online died with JKA. Be prepared to be cussed out by teens if you play tactically and don't just run into their butterflies like lemmings. If a fight lasts more than 1 minutes you will most likely be cussed out. Its hard to find someone who actually understands how broke and unbalanced multiplayer dueling is that loves an epic jedi battle.

However, if you play this game over a LAN or online with a few friends the game has a lot of potential to be fun. Every now and then my m8s from JKT hook up through hamachi or some random server online and go at it for old times sake. The Siege gameplay was also cool, and IMO the reason why the game was cut off from patches. It was too much in competition with Battlefront. IMO the graphics are still better than battlefront and the FPS are stellar on new computers.

Hooflung explained very well why I quit playing JKA. I loved JK2. I was a founder of a clan populated by about 100 members and we all loved to play strategically. We would spend hours mastering moves and trying to learn skillful combos and counterattacks for nearly every scenario. Good times.

ok, i didnt really like the single player game of JA at all...any other star wars games besides kotor or kotor2 that you suggest playing (no lego starwars please)?

i like the atmosphere of star wars games a lot; kotor and kotor2 were awesome, and JA seemed like it had the right idea but it wasnt that great.

I have seen commercials for a future star wars game. It is called Jedi Force or something? I know that name is wrong, but the word Force is in the title and it heavily revolves around using force powers and it is supposed take place farther in the future of the star wars universe where the Jedi have reorganized themselves and acquired much more knowledge of the force. The commerical I saw involved a Jedi using the force to cause a star destroyer to crash land. Pretty sweet looking.

Its Force Unleashed. As shortylickens said, it looks to be console only.

It doesnt.
And if you liked the first one, you may wish to check out its sequel (assuming you havent yet). More force powers, feats, abilities and goodies, not to mention an improved interface, BUT......
The game itself, the story and the acting, seem to be broken. Not a very fulfilling experience.

The game the OP mentioned is another in the Jedi Knight series, more of a 1st or 3rd person shooter than anything else. I like it for the excellent jedi battles but also because you do more than just fight. Theres plenty of traps, puzzles and diverse mission objectives to figure out.
Good stuff.
