I'm selling off my desktop in hopes of getting a new laptop. I don't plan on playing any PC games but WoW, so I found this nice deal..

Sony Vaio FW-290 - $800
*
Intel® Core? 2 Duo Processor P8400 (2.26GHz) [Regular price $100]
*
Microsoft® Windows Vista® Home Premium 64-bit
*
Black
*
3 GB DDR2-SDRAM (DDR2-800, 2GB+1GB) [Regular price $50]
*
250 GB SATA Hard Disk Drive [5400 rpm] [Regular price $50]
*
DVD±R DL / DVD±RW / DVD-RAM Drive
*
Mobile Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD with Intel® Clear Video Technology
*
LCD 16.4" (XBRITE-ECO?)
*
No Fresh Start?
*
Video Standard
*
QuickBooks Simple Start
*
Windows Live OneCare 90-Day Trial

I'm applying for the sonystyle card, so I will be getting 18 months no payments & interest, along with $100 sony gift card with this purchase.

You guys think this is a good deal? Or should I wait a bit longer?

Like I said, I only plan on playing WoW, even if it's at 800x600.. this laptop is for college use.

I have a 360 for serious gaming.

Doesn't look like a horrible deal, but again, the integrated graphics sucks. It will probably play WoW, but definately not with high detail (their recent patches actually made some part of it very graphically demanding - shadows and view distance I think).

You could probably do better if you shop around a bit.

While it would be fine for WoW, IMO a 16" laptop would be too large for college use. Might want to consider 15.4" or 14"

I don't know about shopping around.. it seems like most places (dell, HP) are pretty expensive comparatively.. hmm

I'm not the type of guy that's going to travel a lot with the laptop.. I prefer a somewhat large one since I will be in my apartment with it mostly.

Do you guys know of any places besides sony/best buy that do the 18 months no interest?

the deal & laptop is horrible, or the card?

do you think I should wait and find laptops from another company, such as HP?

That Sony is actually a pretty decent deal, but I would suggest you look at Dell and Lenovo for options with more graphics power. 4500HD is NOT designed for gaming. If you're going to play games, do yourself a favor and get something with a dedicated graphics card instead of the horrible Intel integrated.
