How is this for a gaming computer

This is for gaming, listening to music, school work, and small video editing
I may overclock, not sure... But if I do it will only be minor overclocks
There is a chance I'll do the eVGA step-up program to a G80 - depending on it's price and performance

Can anyone spot any potential problems?

Looks pretty decent to me

Things that come to mind:

I would get Windows MCE

I would get a slightly beefier PSU(but I am sure that one can handle what you have there)

Case....eh....its a toss up...tough to tell quality from pictures

That system is similar to mine, if you're considering overclocking your cpu, look for another mobo, the M2N-E has a lot of problems right now.

since you're gaming, get a single core, preferrably a 3800+

with the saved money, get a beefier psu and asus mobo or asrock sli32 mobo

Well, the next gen of games will be dual core optimized, so keep that in mind.

i'd get a different monitor, something probably from a more reputable company, keep in mind the monitor is what you'll be looking at for hours at a time.

newegg version (see reviews, it's not a bad company)

Ya for future games my CPU shall come in handy, plus it's a small price to pay over the single core and I do multitask a bit

What motherboard would you guys reccomend incase I do overclock (something under $110, and I don't care for SLI - but if it's there I guess I'll take it)

I know the PSU is good for the current settup, just not sure if it will be ok if I get the G80

either I'm blind or that is $100 more

:D

Well, the motherboard in your OP is not very good, it's been having losts of issues. And you seemed to be willing to spend more on the board anyway. The E6300, while $50 more than the X2 3800+, is faster than the X2 4200 and even the X2 4600 in many situations, at stock speeds.

If you are willing to OC, the E6300 can reach FX-62 speeds. That's a hell of a lot more power for a measley $50 increase in cost.

If you'd do your shopping at places other than newegg, you could better afford the extras. XP Home, for example, is only $84 shipped here...

Hard drive is cheaper here...

I would get a better monitor. I have a handspree lcd tv I got as a gift and its not too great on build quality. Go get a samsung or viewsonic. Right now I have a a64 3200+ and would like to upgrade to dual core someday, but not needed since it does fine in games.

Is there a better monitor at this price on newegg/tigerdirect? - didn't think so

If you suggest something give links and keep it mind everyone knows the more you spend the more you get

forget single core, dual will last longer. it makes multitasking/general use snappier, less prone to dragging down.

I have the same monitor and I switched from a NEC CRT and Im really happy with the pic quality. 8ms is more than enough for gaming. And it has better pixel than the hans .29 vs .28. Just something to look into.
built in speakers = waste

No DVI = not good

I don't get why no one likes the monitor?

Edit: Changed to a awsome power supply, tons of insurance here:)

I figure I might as well change my motherboard, I don't realy care that it's SLI but it is the same price and has less problems

I changed the RAM to something cheaper because the other set of ram went up in price even more

ahh, my bad

But still I know most don't use the speakers, I wouldn't either.
Just kind of see it as a waste and on top of that it costs more unless you do the rebate

Really, I didn't know this.
Which games and when. I'll have to upgrade if this is true.

"That supply is from a UK company trying to esablish a name in the states. That is why its cheap. It is a great deal and you will never be limited in upgrades."
