My sister doesn't do much besides get on the internet and talk on AIM. Would this be a good laptop for her?

If there something even cheaper i'd consider than too.

Thanks!

that is a good cheap laptop if shes looking for something with a 14in screen. there are laptops with batter battery life if that matters to her

some examples would be to look into NETBOOKS like the asus EEE, WIND, mini 9... etc

those are PERFECT for aim and internet + u get good battery life and its easy to carry around.

from this thread:

u want it to be waterproof? (surviving deadliest catch?)
u want it to be able to withstand being thrown around? (total abuse)

gtfo

netbooks *are* another good option however, but i dont think anyone would want one as their only/primary machine. if my budget could have afforded it id have a desktop and a netbook...maybe.

I was answering the question dumbass. He asked if it would be a good laptop for his sister if she is just using AIM and the internet. A simple answer sufficed in this case.

A netbook might have also fit the bill, but I think a cheap notebook would be better in this case (larger hard drive, watch movies at a reasonable size, etc...)

itll still be fine. some people find 14" a little small but i prefer it since i take my laptop with me pretty often

if shes in college, look into microsofts ultimate steal to get office 2007 cheap. im not a big fan of it (and do most of my work in OOo) but its $60 or so, so i got it anyway.
