I don't know what the small square looking thing on the core is, but they all have that. I've seen 3 Tbred B 2100+'s that have the same thing. At first I thought it was a scratch or something, but its definitely supposed to be there.

I didn't clean my core when I got mine, and with my SLK-800 and a VERY thin layer of AS3 (all I did was turn the core grey.. can't even see the thickness) I get core temps of 32C idle and 35C load at stock voltages. With OC'ing to 2300MHz and 200MHz fsb vcore pushed up to 1.75V, I get 39C idle, 43C load. I suppose it also helps having an aluminum case with 6 80mm fans in it also.

I remember a few weeks back some guy thought it was signs of burning up his chip!!! LOL....It is supposed to be there as seen at sites that review the chips an place A PIC OF THE CHIP.....

that small square is normal.

i am was running this chip at 2400Mhz 185*13 @1.9v. and was idling at around 42c but decided that it was a little bit too much voltage, so i backed down to 23xx 185*12.5 @1.8v. i like this setup better. i dont think it was worth it at 1.9v.

I'm running my 2100+ AIUHB 0301 at 190MHz x 11.5 for a WCPUID reported speed of 2194.4MHz (supposed to be 2185MHz but the 190MHz FSB setting actually gets me 190.82MHz). Voltage is 1.70V and my loaded temp. is 48C with a muted HHC-001. I don't know what my idle temps. are, I haven't left the chip alone long enough to find out. :D

I'll do what I can to help FFactory0x. About mounting the SK-7, just install the CPU and HSF while the motherboard is on your workbench. You'll have the best vantage point then. Do you have a good heatsink compound to use? If not, get some. Don't rely on a TIM pad or white silicone grease.
