Griffey, top 10 player ALL TIME. despite all his injuries. he is the greatest non roids player i have ever seen play in my lifetime. i'd take him over Aaron, who i saw play.

amazing, that we let the steriods users keep us from celebrating the truly great. no, griffey is no raphael palmeiro.

he lost so much play time once he left Seattle his career in normal superstar terms became somewhat irrelevant.

Even though Griffey has not been implicated there's no reason to make the assumption that he's a non-roids player. A lot of guys were assumed to be clean right up to the moment they were proven guilty. The steroids investigation has barely scratched the surface of what was really happening. There are no numbers that can be taken seriously.

During the Dodgers game today, Fox broke away for every one of Griffey's at bats. I don't remember them doing that for Bonds or Sosa getting to 600.

Will Clark and Jr. Griffey were 2 of my favorite players growing up. Best looking swings, ever! If only he had been healthy all these years...

Too many people became irritated by his whining, his CONSTANT injuries, and pretty much gave up on him. He hasn't had a Griffey-esque season in years, and it's tough to watch a player who's a shadow of his former self. He's decent now, but he's still a strained hamstring or torn ACL waiting to happen.

Also, since when do people care about 600th home runs anyway? Nobody gave a crap when Bonds did it, and the "steroid thing" wasn't nearly as well-known to the general public as it now.

OP, with all due respect, I doubt you saw Henry Aaron play in his prime. And, top 10 of all time? I appreciate your sentiment, but calm down.

Whether you like it or not, injuries are part of the game, and while you can play the woulda, coulda, shoulda game 'till the cows come home, the fact is that a player's career is as good as he made it, and not one bit better, ALL things considered.

That said, I do believe Junior never juiced. He didn't have that highly suspicious, way late career surge that Bonds and that shitpie Clemens had. He's done it that right way.

The lack of hype comes from how much his career has slowed down for YEARS now. Trickling in to 600 just isn't as "spongeworthy" as blasting your way there.

But, when all's said and done, Junior's been a good 'un, no doubt!

Injuries derailed his momemtum. When he was with Seattle, I got to see him quite a bit as a Ranger fan. And let me tell you, he had all the tools. He could run, hit for average, play defense, had a good arm, and had power. A true 5 tool player. It's too bad he couldn't stay healthy, or right now he would be going for 700.

Hey OP, just realized that Junior and his 599 will be at Citizens Bank Park (Phillies) for four games starting tomorrow!

The public can't tell who's on steroids and who isn't so they just group all the players as cheaters and don't give a five on what they do.

only 5 other players in the history have hit 600+ HR's. it's a much much bigger deal than 300 wins for pitchers and yet, everyone made a huge deal about glavines 300 wins.

Even as a huge baseball fan I agree.

Keep in mind that Griffey Jr. has had Bonds over for dinner and they're friends.... while I doubt Junior has even taken PED's (Perf Enh Drugs) anything is possible, especially if you associate with a POS like Bonds.

Griffey in his prime was the best player I've ever seen. A complete five tool player, with each tool being the best in the league.

I think Daryll Strawberry in his prime might have been a better power hitter but not a better pure hitter.

I don't know what you mean by so little hype. Ever since he got to 599, every game he's played has had a front page link on ESPN to live coverage just in case. As much hype as when Bonds broke the record? Of course not, but would you really expect it?
