How is the transition from MX1000 to G5/G7?

I ordered one of each actually. Did you miss the extra buttons? I'm irked that it doesn't have them, I've gotten used to the cruiser buttons on the wheel set as "Home" and "End" although it's not really that useful. The shape does look a little more comfortable though. I think the MX1000 is a little exaggerated in its shape and could stand to be more flat. I don't really like some of the sharp edges. I hate that it takes a minute to read when you first move it too, that's why I was skeptical of cordless and got a G5 too although I've heard the G7 feels corded.

I bought a G5 and sold it and went back to my MX1000.

Personally, I like the shape, size, and weight of the MX1000 much better.

🙂

I think the MX1000 is a little heavy and lopsided because of the battery inside it. Although there is only one side button, it has a much better feel on the G5 than the buttons on the MX1000. I also like the almost "gritty" texture of the main buttons it really helps you grip them unlike the smooth buttons of the MX1000. I just don't like the rough stuff on the sides of the G5. The feet are amazing though, they glide so well on my xtrac hybrid. I love the quick adjustable DPI and it overall seems smoother than the MX1000 and easier to get where you want it quickly while still being accurate. Maybe its just the placebo effect but it's the feeling I'm getting.

I did like the MX1000's size and shape better, but you can't beat that 2000 DPI when you have a 1680 x 1050 res monitor. So I went with the G5, not to mention I got tired of recharging the battery.
