is it good quality? I know it hasn't been out long so you wouldn't know about longevity but does it work well? Has it died on anyone/have any problems?

I was amazed last year when the first time I saw the slim ps2. I had heard they came out with a new revision but damn that thing is small compared to the original PS2 I've got.

what does fliptop have to do with japanese imports?

You can rig it so it doesn't reset when you open the top, so you can use a swap disc to play imports. I think.

Slim PS2 is awesome. When I got mine I was blown away by how small the thing is. Smaller than a Wii even, and that's pretty darn small.

yes smaller than the wii, but also about 3x less powerful.

and with a game library 1000x bigger.

yes but gc has the same number of games rated 9 or higher vs ps2 considering gc has 600 games vs. 3000 ps2 games.

so you come in looking to get a ps2, and then defend that the GC has a better library of games?

get a gamecube, theyre pretty cheap.

I have gamecube. I have 4 gamecubes, 3 dreamcasts, 1 new in box, xbox, wii, 3 gba, 2 new in box. I used to deal with these. I know the GC is better quality, doesn't mean that there aren't tons of titles that I would like, just the majority were mediocre. I want to get 2 with the sony style deal. One for playing/one for backup and make a collection similar to the one I have for GC.

OK, guys... I was just talking about the size, I wasn't trying to turn this into a Wii vs PS2 or GC vs PS2 thread. 😕 I was simply impressed by the size of the slim PS2 compared to the fat PS2 I had previously.

Well I don't blame you if you have money to burn. I myself don't so I'd rather buy used as long as its not near a launch console. Of course I got mine for $30 shipped with memory card, couple games and hookups.

Besides PS2 fat, 80gb+ HD and HD Loader owns.

Yea wity sonystyle credit it's like buy one get one free.

PS2 slim is great. Large library, used PS2 games for a few bucks. My only prob with PS2 and PSP for that matter, is the HORRENDOUS load times in games, ug!

I bought a slim ps2 over ebay in mint condition. I got it for under $60 in its original box and I am very pleased. I finally got to catch up on a few games I missed like Kingdom Hearts 2. Well worth the purchase
