The pictures are okay. It's not going to be anything of like a Canon A40. I'd say the only two beefs that I have with my phone is that it doesn't have the 4 digit dial like my old Samsungs did and it's really sensitive to signal causing the volume in the earpiece to change. I think I just need to get my phone tested.

That's if you can get one... sucks that employees aren't allowed to buy them. I want one!!!!!
Now they have the rotating camera phone coming out soon... now if Sprint didn't have crappy coverage in my area that'd rock.

I love my 5300 and the pictures are quite excellent for what it is IMHO. In my area there aren't any issues w/ Sprint's coverage and I have a great plan. What's not to love?

Pictures on the 8100 will not look nearly as good as those taken on a 5300... Get the 8100 if price or size is a concern, If picture quality is a big concern go for the 5300.

They also have the girly Pearl White (Pastel purple trim) color and the weird kinda looking Dark Metallic Blue with gold inner trim.

this is somewhat off topic. i have a 4900 and the reception is supposedly supposed to be one of the best on the spcs network, how does this phone compare? also the lcd is a lot better on the 8100 comparing it to the 4900, if i'm not mistaken...

Pretty much all of the Sanyo's have comparable reception (i.e they are all fantastic)

And yes, the screen on the 8100/5300 is MUCH better than the one on the 4900. The 8100 is even a little brighter than the 5300.

The Sanyo 4900 was one of the first PCS Vision phones... a lot of people complained about random freezes and such... but Sanyo phones gave good reception. My 5300 is decent considering the craptacular coverage for my hometown... the 8100 is supposedly very much the same for reception... still quite good.

The LCD on your 4900 is only 4096 colors. The 5300/8100 has 65535 colors. HUGE difference. The difference in signal strength is negligible if it even exists.

I like mine. I think I've only been disconnected once, when I went in an old university building. With my old phone, I got disconnected during virtually every call. Signal strength does seem to affect volume, but that's better than complete signal fade. Pictures aren't too good, but it's a freaking phone.

looks like this will be my next phone. sprint sucks over here in hawaii, at least for me where i live. i have a 4900 right now, and i still get a hell of a lot of dropped calls (well not as much as before when i used to have my samsung8500). but i have a great plan because of retention ($30 gets me 300 anytime and 2000 off peak at 8pm). so as soon as i get another job i will most likely get this phone (maybe i'll complain about dropped calls to retention and hopefully they'll help me get a new phone also)...haha.
