I am looking to get a very nice 19" monitor. I plan on running at 1280x1024. Is this an optimal resolution for a 19"? I will be playing many games on this and having it connected to a Radeon 9800 Pro. I read anandtech's review of the 955DF and they said it was nice but I've read on message boards and reader reviews that they have had problems. Anyone have this monitor or can recommend a good 19"? Newegg is selling the 955DF for $182 which caught my eye.

I'm using one right now. It's got a nice price and the image ain't bad. It can't do 1600x1200 at anything over 60hz, though, which effectively makes that resolution unviewable by a lot of people. I'd say this monitor does best at 1024x768 and 1280x1024. It can only go up to 75hz at the later though.

It's also got a slight problem where the words in the center of the screen are a bit blurrier than the ones on the outside. It's not noticable unless you look closely, but it's just visible enough to be annoying. I've seen this problem on lots of monitors, even new ones.

Overall I'm pleased with this monitor but wish I had gotten a 17inch LCD instead because of the saved space and LCD is easier on your eyes.

What is the cheapest LCD that is excellent for fast action games? Are there any? I don't want any ghosting dammit!

Look for 17" LCDs with 16ms response time like the NEC 1760NX and Hitachi CML174SXW.
