I just saw it advertised in the OD flyer that came this morning with my paper. It's advertised for 269.99-90.00(MIR)-10.00(instant Rebate) = 169.99 !!!

Tell me what you think cuz I'm really leaning towards getting it. Wow I cant believe it $170 for a 19" :D

also: Are there any recent reviews on it?

Thank a bunch

I have had one for a little over a year and for the money I think its damn good. The only problem I have with mine is at the top left of the screen it kinda shakes untill it gets warmed up. Its always done it and it hasn't gotten anyworse so it really doesn't bother me.

The general concensus is that, for the money, KDS monitors are a good buy. I've had one for over a year and I run it at 1280x960x32-bit with a refresh rate of 85Hz. You'll also find that KDS has one of the industry's best warranties/RMA policies.

Is this the short neck one? A local Fry's is advertising the short one for the same offer. I was considering a low end 17" for my son (anything would surpass his 15" he uses now.) But for this price, why not the 19"?

Goul. If your going to get a 17" and want a good looking monitor. go with KDS AV-7TF. I've seen it. it's a trinitron trueflat screen. Beautiful. And you would pay about $165.00 shipped. The Viewsonic your speaking of, i've seen. Not bad but i think you would be happier with the KDS. As far as your considering the VS-190. I wasn't personally as impressed with the spec's on that one as some other's but i havn't seen it in person. I think the Samsung 950P is a good choice still. I havn't heard one bad thing about it. I have heard many mixed review's of the 955DF. I have seen the DF and wasn't that impressed. Although that was on Bestbuy's 8mb Split connection video setup. But That said i think the KDS looked the best under that setup.

VS-190 is cheap for a 19", is is nice and round, has .27 mm dots, but has good bandwidth
probably want to run it at 1280x1024 max or else everything gets distorted

KDS monitors are pretty good for the money, but they aren't of the highest quality. Both my bro and parents have 17" KDS monitors and they work fine. If you can afford it I'd go for something else like a Samsung or Viewsonic. They'll be more expensive but much higher quality. You get what you pay for.

Bojax:

If they look like cr@p I'm still gonna go for the Samsung 950P

I have a KDS monitor too, can't remember the model number. The problem you have, It hink, is because you have something that create magnetic field near by. My monitor would act the same when I had a room fan (kindda big) about 4 feet away from it. After I moved the fan, the shaking thing is gone.
Basically, your monitor is de-magnitize itself every time it's turned on. but since it only shakes a little bit, that means the source of the magnetic field is very weak.

Its no trinitron but it seems pretty flat to me. It seems ok to me at 1600x1200 but I don't have anything to compare it to and I never run it above 1024x768. My eyes suck.

That could be it. I have a tv setting on top of my computer hutch on the left. I will have to remember to see if it only does it when the tv is on.

Glad you're happy with it. :) If you're on a tight budget KDS monitors are pretty nice.
