How is the health of my SSD?

I just got another SSD because the deal was too good to pass up. I got my original 120gb Kingston for $75 after tax. This one, a 240gb, I got for $150 after tax.

Right now it's just in this test system which is SATA 2 so it's not taking full advantage of the SSD.

I just wanted to make sure it wasn't DOA.

I have used CrystalDiskInfo before but I don't totally understand what I should be looking at for a failing drive.

With the other fail hard drives I had it said either 'Failure' or 'Caution' at the top. Also something with the Raw Read Error Rate.

How does my new one look?

128 views and no response?

So clearly I am not the only one who doesn't understand CrystalDiskInfo.

Looks good to me! Just make sure you have BIOS set up as AHCI when using this SSD as a boot / data drive

Those are very slow read speeds :S. The write is also slow but the read is more than 4 times slower than what my SSD achieves.

Here are some of my results with my 250GB Samsung 840 SSD (don't have the test results with my 512GB 840 Pro but it's much faster):

Ok here are my 512GB Samsung 840 SSD results:

You cannot compare different benchmarks directly like that. Plus he's on SATA 3Gbps and not 6Gbps so that makes a large difference. Here's my crystal disk mark score. I'd say the OP's score is about right for SATA 2.

I didn't post this thread to show scores... I want information on CrystalDisk - INFO.

Sorry for the confusion. I just left the scores up because I was testing stuff.

As I already said. This is a SATA 3 SSD on a SATA 2 port. I didn't touch anything in bios so that's probably why the speeds suck.

So again I want to know about CrystalDiskInfo. What things on there are warnings?

Raw Read Error Rate? 110 - 110 - 50 threshold. What does this mean?

SSD Life. Threshold 10?

Blue is good, red is bad. If you don't see red you're ok. More than that I dunno.

E7 - SSD Life left. Expressed as a percentage. You have 100% of the life of it left. Also take note of value F1 - Lifetime writes from host, which is 0. Writes are what "use up" an SSD, they have only a limited number (though it's a reasonably large limit). F2, Lifetime reads, is a nice thing to know, but doesn't really impact the life of the drive. You want to pay attention to E7 and F1.

Crystal Disk
Try Changing the Raw values to [10 dec.] under advanced features so you can read them.
