This is very true. Look at the murder rate! (from the most recent FBI UCR (2011))
http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/crime-in-the-u.s/2011/crime-in-the-u.s.-2011/tables/table-6
Chicago homicide rate: 6.8 per 100,000.
Slaughter!
I bet if we look to other cities with extremely strict gun control we will see similar problems. Hey, I hear NYC is very strict with guns, let's check their homicide rate:
NYC homicide rate: 4.75 per 100,000.
Hmmm.
Hey, I hear Texas loves guns and everyone's armed. I wonder what Houston's homicide rate is? Probably low.
Houston homicide rate: 5.4 per 100,000. (note, 2011 was an abnormally low year, homicides increased again significantly in 2012)
Hmm. Well maybe they don't have enough guns. Arizonans love guns!
Phoenix homicide rate: 4.9 per 100,000.
Hmm.
Hey, in Florida you can Stand Your Ground (TM)! I hear that's great for stopping criminals.
Miami/Ft. Lauderdale homicide rate: 6.1 per 100,000.
Hmm.
I've got an idea, how about we realize that trying to make up reasons for increases and decreases in crime due to gun laws is stupid, and that real analysis requires taking a lot more into account.
Nah, what fun would P&N be then?
