first, ford removed the "escort" part of the zx2...it's just called the "Ford ZX2" now. They're nice little cars...I know a v6 zx2 can hang with a v6 camaro, so these aren't just little commuter cars...the sixxers have some balls.

Uhhh...there are no V6 Zx2's. Only a 2.0L 4 cylinder. It's mostly a mazda car under a Ford label. They handle well and a have decent zip. They were the only car on a ford lot to make Consumer Report's "Recommended" list.

Vi_edit already attacked the first part of your post, let me tear apart the second: 'Hanging' with a V6 Camaro doesn't prove anything. Camaros and Mustangs with V6s in them are no more sporty than me pulling the engine out of my lawnmower and sticking it into a Boxster. It is/was just a way for the manufacturer to sell more vehicles by stripping them down. You can't take anyone serious that tries racing in a V6 Camaro.

The ZX2 actually had little to do with the Escort. It's got a lot of Protege parts under the sheetmetal.

You're right, there never has been a 6 in the Escort (straight from Ford anyway). However, someone stuffed a 351 into a Focus:

they're very basic, inexpensive cars. my friend's seems to be bulletproof with the stick, though.
