I'm not interested in overclocking, so I'm sure the HSF bundled in the retail box is adequater. However, I care A LOT about noise. What's the db level of those bundled HSF, does anyone know/

loud IMO. however the HSF can vary. I am getting retail for the warranty and putting the alpha heatsink with a quiet fan.

The retail heatsink of my XP's are the coolermaster cheapos with the 10mm x 60mm fan. They should be fairly quiet, given their size. Most 10mm fans arent capable of making much noise. Be aware, your CPU temps will be quite high ;)

I, also, was wondering about the HSF on the retail version.
I already have a coolermaster on my Athlon 1.2 and it is unacceptably loud.
I also have a Globalwin WBK68 on my Athlon 1.4 and that's not bad, but am looking for something better for my next setup.

Just got XP1700 retail. It has coolermaster HSF. Fan is noisy(36+ dB).
I'm getting 60-80mm adapter and will use 80mm Panaflo.

As far as I know, the aluminum Coolermaster HSF setup is very similar to the retail AMD HSF setup. You'd be best off getting something different, if you're in the market for it. OC'ers should consider something higher-up - i.e. PAL8045, etc.
