I highly recommend the BenQ G2400W. I got mine for $330 and it has been recommended to me over and over at different forums as the best 24" TN panel. It has a very low response time and the colours are amazing.

check out the stickied lcd thread. It has ALL the info you'll need for choosing the right monitor.

I'm curious to hear people's opinion's on this also. I'm building a computer for work, and I'm thinking about getting this monitor. I was going to get the 2408fpw, but that's stretching the budget a little tight. I prefer buying through Dell, because I've liked their screens in the past, and if problems arise they're easier to deal with than other etailers.

yea i'm aware its a TN panel, can someone point out all the flaws of it?

i'll be sitting directly in front of it about 2-3 feet away 100% of the time.
the most "fast-paced" game i play is CS:S

will this monitor give me any problems? like ghosting or tearing?

well TN is supposed to be the best for less ghosting or less tearing.

it just doesnt reproduce colors well, and on 24" sizes, will tend to have color shift on the edges and colors (since your eyes really cant take in the whole monitor without shifting the angle you are looking at the corners).

some people dont care, others do. i picked up my LG 24" pmva at the best buy clearance for like $400... but if you dont care its not really a "Bad" deal. though you can get an acer or something with a similar panel for $280-300 fairly often so its not exactly cheap for a 24" TN.

Hey I have the 20 inch version of the "E" and all I can say is, its good for gaming. Everything else, it sucks: Color reproduction, Viewing Angles. I say if you are going to do gaming only, then this monitor is fine. Photo editing, maybe movie watching, and photoshop is a big no-no on the "E" series.

If you play cs:source and other fast pace fps' like that. You definately need to get the G2400W. I believe it is the fastest 24" monitor right now. Really low response time compared to the others.

so the only drawbacks of a TN for very fast paced gaming is...

inaccurate color production?

i won't exp any screen tearing or stuttering with an 8800gt right? (keep in mind i'll only be playing cs:s

nope. you won't have any problems.

also, you won't notice the "inaccurate color production" either. I came from a high end CRT monitor and have no complaints what so ever.

once again, the G2400W has been rated very high when it comes to color quality as well.

The BenQ G2400W is about the best TN monitor on the market and can be had from Provantage.com for about $390 shipped.

Perhaps someone else can confirm this for me as well, I believe BenQ has a zero dead/stuck pixel guarantee on their screens so if you have a problem they will cover it.

I bought a Dell E248WFP new in sealed box for $300 locally because it was a great deal. The Dell 24" replaced a Dell 1905FP which I have been using for about ~2 years almost daily.

I only have two complaints about the monitor. The first one echoes what others have already said here in that the color reproduction/accuracy is not as good as other non-TN panels. The second complaint is that there seems to be a reddish or pinkish tint on the upper right hand side of the screen which is only visible when browsing the web or viewing large areas with white or grey backgrounds. There is absolutely no dead or stuck pixels and the backlight seems pretty even as far as I can tell (unless it is causing the tint issue.) The monitor is about a 4/5 for movies and a 5/5 for games IMHO.

I haven't decided whether to order an RMA or not for the color variation issue because it doesn't bother me much. I am also not sure if the color variations are normal for these monitors/panels.

Forgot to mention I am using an EVGA 8800GTS 512MB and it works great no tearing or ghosting compared to my previous monitor.
