hi,

i came across a review of a german magazine where this monitor was very high ranked...and it is exceptionally cheap !!!

Does anyone own this monitor ? Look good to me actually from the specs...

Yes, they have great refreshes and image quality, but I've heard people have CTXes fail on them quickly.

CTX monitors are famous for intermittent problems due to bad solder and connections, and the company is struggling, having laid off over 80% of its U.S. employees in the past year or so, including almost all of its technical staff. CTX used to have the best technical support in the business, staffed by actual technicians, but no longer. OTOH Envision's tech support is much like CTX's used to be.

I have a CTX monitor from 1993. I used it regularly from then until mid 2000. Picture quality was terrible and it couldnt go over 1024 * 768 (maybe it's only 800 * 600) - but for a monitor that came with a cheap PC it was pretty good - I don't know how they are now, but I certainly had a good experience with them then (you have no idea how much of an improvement this 19" viewsonic was tho') The thing still works, even after years of poor treatment by me . I used it for new build this thursday, and it still ran fine (I'm to lazy to lug my 19" monitor downstairs to my "workbench" i.e. kitchen counter).
