I'm getting the Canon A40. I noticed it uses 4 AA batteries.
Does this camera just drain batteries very fast?

Should I invest in a set of rechargable NiMH batteries and changer? If so, what brand would you go with?

one set of energizers last me a good two days. of course, try not to make a habit of constantly having ur lcd on... and try not to show everyone u one each and every pic. and yes, please do invest in some rechargable batteries. i have this... it's pretty good.

It's not that bad on the batteries. I generally get around 50-60 shots (with flash). I definately recommend getting NiMH batteries. I always use Lenmar No Mem Pro NiMH batteries rated at 1800 mAh.

Cheers

Definitely invest in some NiMH batteries and charger as digital cameras will use up regular batteries pretty quick.

I've gone through 4 64meg CF cards with the LCD always on, and a *lot* of playing around with my set of 1600mAh batteries (on their 1st charge no less!).

I think this camera is quite good on batteries. I can't tell you exactly how long they last but they do last quite a while. I've got rechargable NiMH batteries with a Rayovac 1-hour charger so even when they do run out it doesn't take long to recharge.

It does awesome for all the features and toys you can play with. I use rechargeables to help save me money:)
