Hey Guys,

Just was wondering about BFG PSU's in general? This supply @Newegg
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817702010
seems like a steal @50 bucks shipped.

I just bought a Smart Power 2.0 off a forum member for 35 shipped.

Heard horrible stories about them.

BFG fine or could anyone recommend another ~50 shipped.

Just powering a standard AMD x4 HP rig (Nothing crazy in it) - I'm upgrading my brothers computer to a 5770 and the stock 300w probably won't cut it.

I just picked up that PSU a few weeks ago. To my knowledge BFG makes good PSUs and it's at a great price! So far everything is running fine with mine! When I unboxed it it felt pretty solid and definitely had some weight to it. I say go for it.

BFG recently had three lines of power supplies. The GS/GX line is the budget models, the LS/MX are the midrange and the ES/EX are the high end. Thus, the GS-550 you are looking at is BFG's low end.

With that being said, it is still a decent power supply for the money. $50 without needing rebates and free shipping is what makes it a great value.

Note that it is 550W peak, and 450W continuous. It will absolutely run a Phenom x4 with a Radeon 5770 just fine. Also, even though it is BFG's "low end" it is still a lot better than much of the cheap crap out there.

Oh yeah, I would totally take the GS-550 over a used Smart Power 2.0.

Best buy has that PSU on sale. Looked at it today

It was probably the GX-550, not the GS-550. Same thing internally, but modular and cost a bit more.
