The stats on it are very impressive, but has anybody tested it? It seems a bit cheap.
I'm particularly interested in the xp-m 2500+. is this chip available on other laptops?

a gimick.

The Athlon XP-M is a fast enough processor, comparable to an intel P4-M, but it will use much more battery power when running than a comparable Pentium-M processor.

Look for an IBM or toshiba with the pentium-M and a better graphics card (ATI 9600 is top of the line now I believe). It wont come in Ferrari Red but it will perform better and last longer on batteries.

I too was looking at the 3000LMI but couldn't not get a Centrino for the battery life so I ended up with a Travelmate 800-series Acer laptop. I love it, but the red would have been the bomb. I saw it in a store and it was hot!
