Someone else may want to affirm or to deny this, but according to my recollection, it's a "waste" of the RAM to put more than 128 MB's on any VGA card from the 9xxxx Radeon series, and the same for the nVidia FX serires. Only ATI's X's and newer, along with nVidia's GF 6xxx's and 7xxx's benefit from 256 or more MB's of RAM on the video card.
