How is s-video out on various cards?, like asus v7100 gforce2mx, v550, etc...

I had a v770 oem without video out, but recently have been wanting to output divx files onto my 27" toshiba with s-video inputs. I have a viper550 retail coming, but doubt I will put it in my main system. I have heard most nvidia based s-video outs use a beachtree 869 chipset and thus should look the same.

I am comtemplating getting a asus v7100t (geforce 2 MX 32mb agp) with the s-video out with twinview, which is damn cool (can output something to the tv, while still using the computer, like a divx files 🙂 Now this card has a Chrontel CH7007A chipset instead of the bt869, which is supposed to give better qaulity according to the anandtech review.

My question is how good will this look? I have a hardware decoder for true dvd's, but am stuck with a tv-out on the video card as my way of displaying mpeg-4 videos.

Anyone use any of the two types of cards, particularly the s-video out, composite looks like hell any way you go.

thanks,
Brad

I've got an Abit Siluro GF2 MX and the TV-out actually surprised me in how good it was. I haven't seen Matrox's TV-out but I've had TV-out from ATI and Nvidia's TNT (A diamond V550) and the Abit's TV-out is comparable to the ATI's TV-out. It's acceptable for playing games and movies but not for reading text or anything like that. BTW, the V550's TV-out was the worst I've ever seen.
